QUIOVEO FOUNDER
Quioveo Energy’s founder, Leo Alicante, was born and raised on a tiny island three hundred miles off the west coast of Central Africa. Leo’s native island, Annobón, remote and surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, has a high point called “Quioveo” (Key-oh-vey-oh, ‘here to see, to witness’).
Leo’s passion and commitment to his work stems from this island childhood. Here, Leo witnessed how both the smallest changes in weather patterns and the influx of extractive energy industries deeply impacted his island people and their way of life. Access to energy on the island was unreliable at best. In Leo’s generation, as well as today, the potential of island children is lit by the light of kerosene lamps.
Today, Leo lives in Philadelphia, an entrepreneur and engineer with a young family. He has spent over fifteen years navigating alongside clients, the complex and dynamic worlds of energy and technology in the era of Climate Change.
Quioveo’s vision, rooted in Leo’s journey, is of a vibrant future, fueled by sustainable, affordable and accessible energy for all.
